Last year, I interviewed Jonas Stein of It’s the ROI about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and WordPress as well as the art of SEO in the online world for the best return on your investment for your website or blog at LTPact 2008 Conference in Las Vegas. Because this episode was last year, you won’t find Liz on the show this week, but she’s not going anywhere, don’t worry.
Episode 6
We talk about titles, permalinks, keywords and search terms, clickability, how search engines work, how Google has actually studied how WordPress works in order to improve indexing since it is one of the most popular CMS/blog products, markup, headings and content styles and how they impact page ranks and search engine results, duplicate content issues, search engine crawl frequencies, nofollow and dofollow, black hat SEO versus white hat, paid links, viral marketing, profiling, hired bloggers and content generators, pay-per-post, and the future of SEO and the industry.
We covered so much, it’s hard to pick out key quotes but something Jonas said stayed with me long after the interview:
As we move past the post destruction of the print media world, where we still have these big media corporations, at least for now, doing video and the high end commercial stuff, there needs to be a new sort of monetization. I just don’t believe that AdSense is monetization – everybody can’t be an affiliate for search engines. Search engines and created this black hole of just sucking everything in because there is some revenue there. Sure, a lot of people made a lot of money on AdSense – I’m not trashing AdSense. We need to emerge to a point that communities have natural monetization that’s built into what makes sense for that community that is synergistic but transparent.
